# Rules

> What Ash should or shouldn't do, one rule per line.

**Rules** are short instructions Ash always follows. For example: *"Never give discounts"* or *"If they ask about invoices, hand the conversation to a person"*.

## Add a rule

**1. Open Rules**

Go to **Settings → Ash** and find the **Rules** card.

**2. Write the rule**

In **Write a rule…**, write a single instruction.

**3. Save it**

Tap **Add**.

Each rule shows who suggested it: **You** or **Suggested by Ash**.

## Good rules

| Instead of… | Write… |
| - | - |
| "Be nice and don't promise weird things or give discounts" | Two rules: "Never give discounts." and "Don't promise dates without checking the calendar." |
| "Complaints" | "If a customer complains, hand the conversation to a person." |

> [!TIP]
>
> One rule, one idea. If the rule depends on a fact (like a price), put the fact in **Context**.
